Monica
Monica was originally born in England. Having moved to Australia Monica spent most of her adult life as an educator of children with special needs. In particular she was a Home Economics and Science teacher until she took up the position of School Principal at a Special School. Monica moved to Redcliffe in 1989 for what was meant to be 3 years however she never managed to leave. Now that Monica has retired she volunteers running a network for people with long term illness, she is very involved in her local church teaching crochet in a healthy aging program and she is also volunteers online for a group in China giving arts and crafts assistance to people with disabilities and orphans.

 

Mrs. Hayton Mrs. Hayton
Mrs. Hayton was born in Brisbane, Australia, where she spent all of her life growing up. As a young woman Bev's first job was working for the Australian Government as a War Service Homes Shorthand Typist. Bev got married in 1965 and went on to have 3 beautiful children. She currently has 8 and a half (one on the way) grandchildren. Bev is 65 years old, loves doing crafty stuff, crocheting, knitting and traveling Australia with her husband camping in their camper trailer.
Mrs. Maher Mrs. Maher
Mrs. Maher was born in Victoria, Australia and moved to Brisbane when she was 6 months old. When she was 2 she moved to Redcliffe with her parents who had opened up a local disposals, fishing, army and camping shop. Roslyn's first job out of school was working for a bank as a ledger machinist. She was married in 1975 and went on to have 3 children. Recently, to her delight, she became a grandmother. Roslyn has been crocheting for over forty years, and loves cooking meals for big groups of people.
Mrs. Miller Mrs. Miller
Mrs. Miller was born in Oakey, just outside Toowoomba, Australia. As a young adult in the 50’s Audrey worked in Mt Isa until she earnt enough money to travel Australia. She moved to the Northern Territory in '57 living in Alice Springs, Darwin and Cannon Creek. Audrey then found herself in Cairns working in the fishing industry for 17 years. In 1995 she moved to Redcliffe and has been living here ever since. Amidst her travels Audrey had two children. She now has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Audrey loves to travel and has just been to the Greek Islands spending her earnings from her work with Biddy Bags.
Mrs. MCCoombes

Mrs. MCCoombes
Mrs. MCCoombes was born in Brisbane, Australia and has spent her whole life in this city. Jan met her husband Barry working at the National Bank and they got married in 1969. They went on to have 3 boys together. Jan currently has 5 grandchildren. It was as a little girl that Jan learnt to crochet from her mother and grandmother and over the last few years Jan has been involved in a group which crochets blankets for people in palliative care in Redcliffe nursing homes. Jan also enjoys knitting, sewing and playing Mahgong - a Chinese game.

Mrs. Miller

Di was born in Adelaide, but moved north after marrying a Queenslander in 1964. She has remained in Queensland since then except for a couple of periods when her husband's work involved moves to Victoria, and one stint of 9 years in the Middle East. On returning to Australia, she settled in Redcliffe. Di and her husband have 2 great children and 4 grandchildren. Learning to knit and crochet as a child, Di has been making things for family, friends and charities ever since. When younger Di enjoyed playing tennis and squash, and bushwalking. These days her chief recreations are caravanning and ten pin bowling.
